Robert McClelland apologizes, really!

Read his latest posting here:

As you all know, recently I made a remark in the comments of a post that many people felt was offensive to Jews and crossed the boundaries of what constitutes good behaviour in the blogosphere.

My comment was never intended to cause offense to anyone but it did and so I sincerely apologize for making it.

Well done, Robert.

Thanks Eric for posting Robert's most gracious apology in your blog. Well done Robert!

I would have preferred to see an apology for the remark itself, not an "if you were offended I'm sorry" kind of non-apology.

Something like: "I stated that I would be indifferent if the Jews were rounded up again. I spoke in haste and in anger. I harbour no such sentiments about Jews or any other group of people. I would indeed be in the front line of resistance if any group were being rounded up. I apologize unreservedly for the remark and for the offence that it naturally caused."
